Dr. Albert A. Gapud is recognized for his outstanding work in the field of Physics specifically in the field of high temperature superconductors. He has explored the feasibility for future applications of high-temperature superconductors as well as uncovering further the physics behind such materials. His impressive record of accomplishments and dedication to help improve physics research and education in the country at such a comparatively young age indicates a great potential for even more important work at the forefront of newly emerging technologies.

Dr. Victor dela Paz Gapud is recognized for his contribution in agriculture. His research interests are mainly focused on the biodiversity of springtails (Collembola), dragonflies and damselflies (Odonata), bugs (Hemiptera), and selected groups of beetles. Butterflies (Lepidoptera) are a side interest mainly in relation to biodiversity conservation. He also engaged in integrated pest management (IPM) research while assigned to the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) in 1993-1997.

Dr. Ruben Gapasin is recognized of his researches in plant pathology particularly on the biological control of nematodes and soil-borne pathogens in root crops. Dr. Gapasin’s studies finds significance in the control of nematodes considered one of the major factors contributing to the occurrence of crop disease, low yield and poor quality of farm produce.
