Dr. Maxima Acelajado is recognized a Filipino scientist noted for her outstanding researches on upgrading mathematics teaching in the Philippines. She was honored as one of the Top 11 Filipino Scientists by the National Research Council of the Philippines for her achievements in the field of governmental, educational, and international policies. Dr. Acelajado is the author and co-author of mathematics books for high school and college, which are now prescribed books or references in many schools. Her books were written based on her researches in different regions of the country. Many education experts in the Philippines acknowledged her works to have contributed to the improved and improving performance of both high school and college students in different fields of mathematics.

Dr. Menandro N. Acda is Associate Professor and Chair of the Dept. of Forest Products and Paper Science, College of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of the Philippines Los Banos. He finished his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of the Philippines Los Banos in 1986 and 1992, respectively, both in the area of Wood Science and Technology. In 1995, he obtained his Ph.D. in Wood Preservation and Biodeterioration from Oregon State University, Corvallis, OR., USA. Dr. Acda research interests include termite biology and control and bio-based composites. He is considered one of the leading experts on subterranean termite in the Philippines and has published a number of articles in international refereed journals including the discovery of a new species of termite from Mt. Makiling. Dr. Acda is also working on several areas that are geared toward the protection and conservation of the environment through efficient utilization of natural resources. His current projects include utilization of waste chicken feathers for low cost building materials, the use of sludge from paper recycling mills as additives in wood-plastic composites and search for benign bio-pesticides against destructive wood boring insects such as termites and powder post beetles.

Dr. Antonio L. Acedo Jr., born December 29, 1959, received his Ph. D. in Horticulture in 1989 at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. Antonio L. Acedo Jr. was given the Outstanding Young Scientist Award in 1996 in recognition of his significant contributions in the field of postharvest physiology specifically in the development of improved evaporative cooling techniques for low-cost storage for fresh vegetables, fruits and root crops.

Dr. James Patrick Abulencia’s is recognized for his important contributions in the field of graduate work focused on examining the effects of fluid shear stress on physiological systems. He joined the Department of Chemical Engineering at Manhattan College in February 2007, and is currently an associate professor primarily teaching material and energy balances, thermodynamics, fluids, and unit operations laboratory.
