Dr. Rachel June Ravago- Gotanco (Molecular Biology and Biotechnology) is recognized for her pioneering works on DNA marker development and its application towards studies on the management, ecology and evolution of marine organisms. She was credited for her numerous scientific publications on the application of molecular genetics approaches to ecology, population genetics, biogeography and evolution of marine species. She previously worked as a University Research Associate in UPD until 2006 working on research projects on the development of DNA-level markers for analysis of genetic variation and population genetic structure of several marine taxa. At present, she is completing her doctorate studies in Marine Science from UPD, supported by the Global Environment Fund-Coral Reef Targeted Research Program (GEF-CRTR).

Majah-Leah Ravago is Assistant Professor and currently the Director for Research at the University of the Philippines School of Economics. Her research interests include environmental and resource economics, development economics, energy economics, and experimental economics. She has co-authored a number of publications and working papers on agriculture, resource management and sustainability, and experimental games. She was awarded as 2016 Outstanding Young Scientist (Economics)
