Dr. Lilibeth Acosta-Michlik is a senior scientist in the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. She received her degrees from the University of the Philippines (BSc), University of Cambridge in England (MPhil), and University of Bonn in Germany (PhD). She has worked in renowned research institutions in Germany, Belgium, United Kingdom and Japan. She has received scholarship and fellowship awards from various international institutions (i.e. IRRI, British Council, Cambridge Overseas Trust, German Academic Exchange Service, and Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) for her studies and research. Dr. Acosta-Michlik's current research interests include sustainability and vulnerability in the context of climatic, economic and land-use changes. She conducts integrated assessment modelling using statistical (e.g. cluster, conjoint, logit, path analyses), fuzzy logic, and agent-based techniques. She has published many articles in ISI-journals and has regularly reviewed articles for these journals. She has developed and participated in the development of successful projects for funding by the Asia-Pacific Network; Belgium Science Policy; Global Change System for Analysis, Research and Training; and European Commission. She has also coordinated and collaborated in many international and interdisciplinary projects funded by international organizations and European national governments. She provides/provided research supervision to undergraduate and graduate students in renowned universities in Berlin, Potsdam, Louvain (Belgium), Kyoto and the Philippines.
