Dr. Rafael Guerrero III is recognized for his pioneering work on the development of sex reversal and hatchery techniques on tilapia, making him known as the Father of Tilapia Sex-Reversal. He also developed vermiculture science and technology in the Philippines. His research finds applications in fisheries, aquaculture, vermiculture, and water resources management.
