Graciano P. Yumul

New MIRDC governing council chair

Dr. Graciano P. Yumul is an expert in Geochemistry and Environmental Geology, Geology, Economic Geology, Igneous Petrology, and Tectonics and Structural Geology.

DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE and Technology Undersecretary for R&D Graciano P. Yumul, Jr. was named chair of the governing council of Metals Industry Research and Development Center. He replaced Dr. Rogelio A. Panlasigui, Jr. who retired in 2005.

Dr. Yumul joined DOST as executive director of the Philippine Council for Industry and Energy Research and Development in August 2001, a position he held until March 2006. He was also officer-in-charge of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Administration from January 2005 to March 2006.

He finished his BS Geology at University of the Philippines in Diliman in 1980, and earned his master's [1987] and doctoral [1990] degrees in geology at Tokyo University. Dr. Yumul earlier worked at Bureau of Mines and Geosciences of the Department of Environment and Natural Resource for four years.
