Teodora D. Balangcod

Ecological Educator

Expertise: Plant Ecology and Systematic Botany, Biological Sciences, Medicinal Plants, Ecology, Plant Taxonomy, Phytochemicals, Secondary Metabolites, Ethnobotany

Not only has Teodora Balangcod, PhD, spent decades imparting knowledge on plant life and the environment, she has also applied it for the good of her community. Along with her being a faculty member of the Department of Biology at the University of the Philippines Baguio since 1987, where she teaches Botany and other related subjects, she is distinguished in the Cordillera region for her research in botanical preservation and ecological conservation. She spearheaded the development of UP Baguio's Herborium and facilitated the extension of its Greenhouse, and was duly recognized for her contribution in research in her field, which she publishes for the benefit of her students and the community. Teaching for 26 long years deserves respect, but Teodora's efforts to preserve nature are worth admiring.
