Dr. Gloria G. Delan is recognized of her important contributions in the field of the vice president for research and development. She is also the editor-in-chief of the university’s Tropical Technology Journal (Category B). Previously, she served as the university and Carmen campus R & D director in 2008 through 2015 and 2002 through 2008 respectively, and Integrated Coastal Research Management (ICRM) director from 2001 through 2015. Dr. Delan earned her degrees: Doctor in Educational Management in the University of Southern Philippines; Master of Science in Fisheries in the University of the Philippines – Visayas, under the scholarship program of the World Bank Project through the (EDPITAF); and Bachelor of Science in Fisheries Education in Iloilo State College of Fisheries. She had spent ten years (from 2000 through 2010) as an exchange researcher/scientist in the Graduate School of Biosphere Science, Hiroshima University, Japan for being the Philippine government recipient of DOST-JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science). Her linkages prove her ability to collaborate with institutions thus she is an active member of the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP), Philippine Society for the Study of Nature (PSSN), Federations of Institutions for Marine and Freshwater Sciences (FIMFS), Philippine Association of Marine Science (PAMS), Philippines Statistics Association-Visayas Chapter and Philippine Association for Graduate Education (PAGE).
