Expertise: Plant cytogenetics and mutations

Dr. Joventino Soriano is recognized for his studies on plant cytogenetics and mutations research, some of which found publication in international journals. By using radiation and chemical mutagens. Dr. Soriano contributed to the elucidation of the mutation process. Among the honors and awards received by Dr. Soriano are: SEATO Research Award, 1963; International Atomic Energy Agency fellowship, 1962; Professorial Chair of Botany at the University of the Philippines, 1974-1976; and UNESCO fellowship, 1958-1961. Dr. Soriano is a member of various association in genetics such as the Genetics Society of America, American Genetics Association and the Indian Society of Genetics and Plant.
