Francisco O. Santos

National Scientist (1983), NAST Academician

Expertise:

Many studies by Dr. Francisco Santos concern improvement of nutrition of the Filipinos. He made comprehensive investigations on the nutritive values and chemical composition of Filipino foods, amount of nutrients and vitamin contents of traditional Philippine food materials and Philippine nutrition problems. Dr. Santos was recipient of a number of awards including the Distinguished Service Medal for outstanding contribution in the field of nutrition among Filipinos, 1955; Andres Soriano award in chemistry, 1956; and the University of the Philippines Alumni award, 1979.
