Dr. Evelyn Grace T. De Jesus-Ayson is recognized of her significant contributions to the advancement of our knowledge of fish physiology and endocrinology particularly in the delicate balance of hormonal regulation in fish metamorphosis. She has demonstrated that the thyroid hormone (TH) that triggers metamorphosis in flounder larva to the juvenile stage is affected by other hormones. The results of her research have led to the development of a protocol which is now routinely used in the successful rearing of groupers and other economically important related fish species.
