Dr. Emilia T. Quinitio is one of the pioneers in the development of shrimp hatchery technology at SEAFDEC/AQD in the late 70s. Her work experience includes shrimp reproductive physiology, shrimp & crab breeding & seed production, and crab nursery & grow-out culture (including aquasilviculture). With her academic background and several years of research work experience, she has produced 50 refereed scientific journals, manuals, book chapter and technical reports, and co-edited special issues of scientific journals. She has been involved in various international research projects, conducting of training courses on all aspects of mud crab culture, and in organizing international and local workshops, conferences and meetings. She serves as consultant to private and government agencies in the Philippines and other countries. She is currently engaged in the domestication of mud crab (Scylla spp.) and shrimps (P. monodon, P. indicus/P. merguiensis) and in enhancing the adoption of mud crab culture (hatchery, nursery and grow-out technology) through collaborations, training courses and manuals to various sectors in the Philippines and other Asian countries.
