Dr. Eduardo A. Padlan is recognized for his outstanding contributions and accomplishments in Biophysics, specifically the elucidation of the 3-D structure of hemoglobin and antibodies in relation to their evolution and function. His most recent work on " humanized antibodies " has potential applications in the treatment of various diseases including cancer. He has fourteen granted and pending patents on various aspects and uses of antibodies. Dr. Padlan has contributed to the strengthening of S & T in our country in the fields of molecular biology and immunology through the training of researches and teaching several universities during his regular visits to the country.
