Dr. Romulo Davide is recognized for his pioneering studies on nematode diseases of plants and their control. He discovered the first biological control agent against nematodes. His work focuses on plant parasitic nematodes: host-parasite relationship, biological control, interaction with other pathogens (fungi, bacteria, and virus), plant diseases due to these organisms, and survey and identification of plant parasitic nematodes that attack economic crops in the Philippines. His research finds applications in agriculture and rural development, for promoting sustainable agriculture, maximizing crop production, and farming practices.
