Dr. Virginia Cuevas is recognized for pioneering research on organic fertilizer that lead to the development of a rapid fungus-mediated compost production method that is low-cost, efficient, non-pollutive and sustainable and self-reliant. This technological breakthrough can be mass developed and processed even by small farmers in the lowlands and uplands where it is most appropriate thereby increasing production yield for the country’s growing population.
